I am travelling to India next week and using AP for reentry. do I have to give copy of AP here along with I-94? how many photocopies of AP I have to carry and also at the mumbai airport I have to give a copy of AP? I am travelling via amsterdam, I found that transit visa is not required, its about 2hrs stopover, do I have to show AP there too to the netherland immigration personnels? anyone having experiance via amsterdam? and also about AP pl post your view

I have travelled from AMS

1) You need to submit only your I-94 here.
2) While coming back from India you need to give a copy of AP.
3) In Amsterdam they do another interview. Here again you will need to give a copy of your AP. Also, if you have a H-1 on your passport try showing that both in India and Ams since most of the folks dont know what AP is. For them Parole means something else. Keep a copy of your EAD handy to show work authorization.
4) On your first port of entry into US, the immigration officer will create a file for you with your paperwork. You will now have to go for secondary inspection. I did this at JFK and took 3 hrs. You are not allowed to make any phone calls during this period. So better inform people who come to pick you up accordingly. I was not asked any questions during the entire process except we had to stand up once to identify ourselves. But be prepared with your 485 receipt notice, employment letter and DL etc.
5) If you are catching a connecting flight, inform the Airline staff that since you are on AP it might take a while and they should keep your luggage aside. Usually an Airline rep will contact you during the secondary inspection as they are concerned that you dont get deported :) .
6) The Immigration/Customs officer will stamp your passport with Paroled until ''1 year". U will also get your I-94 with the same date. Check the date and name etc.

Thanks for the info.
I am going for 5weeks vacation and my port of entry will be detriot. I will have to catch flight for pittsburgh later where I reside. I hope the secondary inspection wont take too long at detriot.
I dont have H1b stamped on my passport but have valid visa papers, EAD and AP with me. I am hoping that things go smooth while going and way back
