AP Question

I entered US with my AP few months ago. I was told by my friend that INS would resume my I-485 processing only if I mailed back a copy of my AP. My attorney told me that traveling outside USA with AP would not stop my I-485 processing. I don't have to do anything at this point. I'm confused. Can someone help?

This is not a first time I am hearing this bullshit.
Does you friend have a verifiable source of information?
And if you are really concerned about this and don't trust what your lawyer said, raise this question during the next Murthy's chart that is supposed to happen this Monday.
