Am in a bit of a spot. Was hoping to rec. my GC approval sometime this month, but no luck yet (RD Mar02). I have to travel out of the country in April and will not get back till June. My current AP expires in May, and I have not applied for a new one yet.

From posts I have read, it seems it can take almost 6 months for an AP renewal from VSC these days. My question is as follows:

If I apply for the AP renewal now, there is very little chance that I will have it approved by March end. I MUST travel first week April. Do you think I can go to Newark and apply for an emergency AP, although there is really no emergency. What do you guys suggest.

BTW, does anyone know what choices e, & f under PART II of the I-131 application are. And can these be used in my case??

Thnaks for the response. Do I have to show some sort of evidence that it is an emergency or can I just file directly with the normal papers. I could offcourse get a letter from my employer stating I have to go on a business trip.

Last ?, is it walkin at Newark or does one need to get an appointment. If latter, how does one go about getting one.

PS: Searchign the posts you mentioned it seems you are talking about an interim AP if the original has been pending with VSC for 90 days. This is NOT the case for me. It would be a fresh/NEW application at newark.

No questions asked from anyone including me, the only point they state is that your travelling dates must not be more than 3 weeks in advance, however I was not asked for that too.

It does not matter whether you are getting a local AP based on emergency or because you got screwed by VSC, they still issue it as this was conveyed to me by the officer.

I clearly told him that I was going on vacation, nothing else was asked.

go there by 6:30 am it is first come first served basis, they issue 50 AP/EAD everyday, take a money order/certified check for the fee.

If you don't get it same day they will give you appointment for the next day.

What day did you go to Newark? Was it Monday or Tuesday.... ? Thank you very much.

Are you from New Jersey?
 
You can go anytime except Wednesday as they stay it is strictly by appointment only on that day.

I am from NJ.

I live in Maryland & my AP is also pending for more than 120 days. Am I Eligible to apply AP in Newark, NJ?
