AP not needed if 485 pending?

I just got the I-131 AP application form and trying to apply for my wife but the form says: if you are the spouse of a permanant resident and have I-486 pending then you don't need to apply to the AP. Has anyone heard about this? This could make travel much easier.

If your wife has a valid V-2 stamp in her passport, then she doesn't need an AP.

check with some attorney again. I believe AP is a must for all pending 485 cases.
H/L visa holders can enter without AP.
