AP: name differ from Passport (senior members please help...)

Hi,

We filed for my wife's 485 case with her madien name. Then got her name changed on the passport to my last name. Her WAC# is 02-105-xxxxx, so doesn't look like she'll get her approval soon and have to go to India in Dec. She'll be using the AP but last name is different on AP and Passport. Do you think this will create a problem re-entering US ? Can the officer deny entry based on this ?
