I have an AP & EAD but no job, because I was laid off. I am planning to find a new job and use AC21. Last time I entered the US, it was on H1B status.

Will there be a problem if I go to Canada and reenter with my AP even though I'm currently unemployed?

Also, for AP renewal, can I file this myself, or do I need to submit a new letter stating for what purpose I need the AP?

Hello

When you will reenter using AP, it is highly unlikely they will ask wheather you have job or not, neither they will ask for employment letter. However, I would try to avoid any trip if it is not that essential. I dont know what legal rules regulation about this.

You can apply AP by yourself. You have to fill up the form I-131 just like you did last time. Separate letter mentioning the reason of your travel is not a mandatory thing to file a petition for AP.
