AP I94 valid only for 1 year

I recently travelled on AP and they gave me i 94 valid for an year from date of entry. So what happens when that time is complete? I know I need a new AP if need to re-enter, but what if I am not travelling outside?

The I-94 expiry date has no meaning provided your I-485 isn't denied.
