AP (I-131) Question.

My wife and I applied for I-131 (AP) along with I-485 and I-765 at Vermont Service Center on January 20th, 2004. We need to leave USA in May for two weeks to take care some personal things.

I was wondering if it is possible to get AP from INS office if we don't get it by that time. Right now I'm at H1-B visa but our visa date is expired on our passports.

I'll appreciate you help.

You can go to the local INS office and try. They used to issue AP in emergency but lately they are very strict about it.

Worth a try though.

Thank you for your reply usnycus. I have one more question. My company is in Pittsburth, PA and all applicatoins (I-131,I765,I-140 and I-485) have been filed in Vermont Service Center but I'm working in Houston, Texas.

Is it possbile to request for I-131 (AP) in Texas Service Center by going personally?

I'll appreciate any suggession on this matter.

You can try at your local USCIS office. It is loacted at following address:

If you go to Houston office there is Notice Saying that for emergency parole requires the document like doctor's letter or FAX.
'take care some personal things' may not be qualified for emergency parole. Try to use H1 is have current H1. Otherwise you have wait until the approval of AP from service center.
