Friends,

In couple of days, We shall be leaving for India. I have AP Valid until 06/06 and would be using for our re-entry to USA, as G/C is yet to be approved. What I have is - 2 copies of AP, for each one of us in family.

Questions :-

1) Is that a document that Indian Immigration Officer would like to see/retain ?
2) Are we suppose to give that to the Immigration at Port of Entry?
3) Or, will Immigration Officer stamp and return the AP back to me?
4) When they issue an I-94, what would be the validity. Will it be 06/06 ?
5) Any other documents we need to carry along with us ?

Appreciate your feedback/Suggestions.

Best Regards

Regarding AP (I-131) How it works?

Here are the answers to your queries based on my recent experience in travelling back from India on Advance Parole:

1) Is that a document that Indian Immigration Officer would like to see/retain ?
* Indian Immigration Officer would like to see the Advance Parole / Visa stamped on the passport.
2) Are we suppose to give that to the Immigration at Port of Entry?
* Give only one copy of the advance parole to the Immigration Officer at Port of Entry. They will direct you to an adjacent room where the AP will be stamped and returned to you after a brief waiting time.
3) Or, will Immigration Officer stamp and return the AP back to me?
* Please see answer 2 above
4) When they issue an I-94, what would be the validity. Will it be 06/06 ?
* I-94 will be valid for one year from the date of your entry.
(Though in my case the officer entered the date of entry as May 4 by mistake instead of June 4 and gave validity upto May 3, 2006. I don't know whether this is going to be a problem later  )
5) Any other documents we need to carry along with us ?
* Copy of I-485 receipt notice should be sufficient in my opinion though the officer at POE did not ask for any documents other than AP

Thanks - Dallas03096
