I haven't got a receipt date yet and nor has my cheque been encashed. I know that the documents have reached the INS office as I tracked it to the center.
What should I do now? Since I neither have a receipt date nor any other document (except for the airborne tracking document) that proves that I sent in my papers? How long is the usual wait before one gets the receipt ?

Any advice would be appreciated.

It takes about 7 to 10 days to get receipt

Mine took 7-10 days. I would suggest you call IIO about it.

I sent mine three weeks ago as well but haven't received the receipt yet. However I checked my Bank acct online this morning - INS cleared the check on 10/18.
Hang in there.

if you so not have the RD or the EAC number, and you want to check the status, call the IIO and give them your A-number (alien number) and they should be able to find your file. but if they do not have the file in the system, then you will have to wait a few more days...

remember when you dial, you may have to dial several time for several minutes as the lines will be busy. keep trying, you will get through eventually.

once you get the EAC number, you can call the same number after hours to check the AVM automatic voice message system to track your progress...
