My H1-b will be valid till 2006. I want to know if I use my AP to go out USA, my H1-b will be valid or not after I come back.

You can use your H1-b

You can either use your H1-b or your AP/EAD to visit outside US till 2006. It will remain valid.

can u tell me something ? While applying for AP, do you need to write a letter stating the reasons for leaving the country ? I saw that the I131 form requires you to provide reasons like visiting parents, relatives etc.
Is there a sample letter/format for this purpose ?

If you are continuing your employment in H1-b and decide to visit India with that valid H1-b, then after coming back to USA, you can continue working with that valid H1-b till it expires on 2006. Your GC processing will go on uninterrupted.

There are cases where people has got their GC while still in H1-b visa.

H1B will be valid even if you use AP. Only if you use EAD, H1B becomes void.

zztop,

you dont need a letter, but you have give a valid reason for travel like family reunion, family emergency etc.
