AP/EAD Renewal

Here are my case details. I got laid off in Oct'03 and have since moved to India.

I did concurrent filing of I-140 & I-485.

AOS & I-140 Filed 3/22/03
AOS Receipt notice 3/27/03
I-140 Approved 5/15/03
1 FP - 5/1/03
AP & EAD recvd & expire 5/27/04
Filed AR-11 Form to give Friends Address in US - Jan '04

Question:-

I want to visit US before 5/27/04 using my AP. The primary reason for this visit is because a friend of mine told that I need to be in US to renew my EAD & AP. Can somebody validate this statement? Can I also renew these remaining outside US and what is the procedure?

Yes you must be in the US when your AP is approved if you want to use it. These days it takes close to 6-8 months for the process, so be prepared to wait that long.

I am not clear with your response.

Are you saying that I will have to be in US for AP approval or I have to be in US for applying for renewal?
What about EAD?

I have submitted the AR-11 form for change of address to my friend's US address. So, why should I be in US to receive the AP renewal approval?
