Hello
I am filing for renewal of my AP online. However, I came upon a couple of questions that I'm not sure what to answer.
Q1. Date of Intended Departure
Q2. Expected length of trip
Q3. For how many trips do you intend to use this document?
First of all, I'm not sure what date I would depart or how long I would stay abroad. I was expecting to leave this summer, around May-June, or possibly even as late as July. I could be there for a month, or even two. Also, I may or may not use it for more than one trip (depending on if I travel this winter or not).
What I'm wondering is - how do my answers affect the processing or the type of AP they give me? For instance, if I intend to travel in May, will they process my AP with a greater priority, as opposed to if I said I was traveling in June? And, if I am going for a short time or intend to use it for one trip, would they give me a shorter period AP, as opposed to if I was to travel long or use it for multiple trips? I thought all AP's have a period of one year - no more, no less.
I have no idea how what I answer affects my trip in what manner. Also, what do I write about the part where they say, "On a separate piece of paper, please explain how you would qualify for an Advance Parole and what circumstances warrant issuance of Advance Parole".
Since I've already had an AP before, am I not already qualified to apply for renewal? I don't know what to answer - last time the lawyer handled everything, and the AP came within a couple of weeks.
By the way, I already have a valid H4 visa, so I don't need an AP, but I'd rather be on the safe side and get a document that guarantees me entry back in the US. Plus, if I use H4, I'd have to go to the consulate and get it stamped in my passport on my way back - don't want the hassle. Is it worth the $170 AP fees though?
