OK, if you were reading my latest opinions on AP approvals in absentia I would have mentioned about a friend known to me from VSC, who was stuck in India without AP. Initially when he left US, he really didn't think it would be a big deal. Fortunately for him, the approval came in and the documents have been sent by his attorney to his country. He is now all set to come back.
There ends the story. Again, please do note that not all are lucky enough to have their heyday as this one. This approval is truly an exception and the guy is pretty darn lucky. One of my unfortunate closest buddy lost his GC process due to abandonment at TSC in Aug 2002.
I will leave it to you to evaluate the risk of travelling without any travel document. Also, this has nothing to do with travelling with a valid AP while an AP renewal is pending. There were different success stories posted by quite a few in this forum and I haven't seen any adverse action being posted here.
According to Hoyle, one should never travel outside the US, without a valid travel document to re-enter the US. That is my personal stand as well to avoid the risks involved. So, that completes my narration on the topic.
