AP and I-140

I have an approved I-140 (NIW) and I am on F-1 right now valid till 2009. Can I go to India for 3-4 weeks without any problems? Do I need AP. If so, I can't apply as I am Indian citizen and currently there is retrogression with 485. I will come back and continue my PhD in the same program.
What are my options.

In general , Parole is for people who are in AOS ( i.e filed 485 and waiting for decision).
