AOS or CP for H1B

Hi Everyone,

I just received my notification letter for DV2006, case number 2006EU12XXX from Hungary. I live in the US, presently on an H1B expiring in July, 2006. (I would normally get an extension on the H1 without a problem)

I am trying to learn the pros and cons of doing the consular process or applying for adjustment of status. I'd prefer not to go home for this but I am afraid of the process through the INS... I expect no problems, just worried about the time frame and the non-transparency of the process. (Like the first time I was sent an H1B with the wrong name... ;)

Please advise. Thanks a lot!

According to DV2005 numbers your number will be current on November-December 2005. You will still have 7 to 8 months validity in your H1B. You are invery good shape for AOS. Advaytage: no travel needed, you can follow up on your case, act if enything starnge happens (you can hire lawyer and file a law suit...etc.). If you do CP you will have to travel, hope the guy in the consulate will approve you but one yhing is sure it's faster than AOS...
You decide!
Good Luck!
Robert
