AOS interview

My AOS interview is scheduled on Sept end (Married to USC). Last weekend, somebdy stole my passport. How it will affect my AOS interview.
I reported theft to local police and will take report copy in interview. Applied for new passport but it will take 3 months.
Any opinions?

Most embassy and consulates will re-issue a passport or travel documents for emergency purpose within 48 hours. It's depends what is your nationality.

Do you have photocopy of your US visa and I-94? They would ask for these.

I assume you have prepared your forms package and would have the above requirements. Do you?

I have been checking different consulates and some give you an Emergency Travel Document, you have to present copy of your old passport, I-94 and explain what happened.

Call again since you need a valid document from your goverment.

I'm Indian citizen. As per indian consulate, it takes 3 months to issue duplicate passport. Please let me know if this is correct or you have some suggestions. I'm in AZ.

Well, you got it all ! Have to worries, just carry those you got. Have you applied for a new passport yet? Any letter of confirmation from EOI? Carry all those with you at the interview. Do you have drivers license? If yes, then carry that with you too. I dont think they will ask for your passport, because there is nothing to stamp on it, yet...

I still havn't sent the application. waiting for police report. I have drivers licence and everythng i need for interview. This theft screwed up things lill bit.
If i pass AOS interview, they will ask passport for stamping. In that case i'll have problem?? What i'll get as proof of sucessful interview?..

You need passport to get approval stamp after interview. Have checked or called Indian consulate personally? are you sure it takes them such a long time to process the application? Try calling 800# of USCIS. See what they are suggesting.

You must need original passport to face the interviw, otherwise they will re-schedule your interview.( Again there is no hard and fast rule for USCIS- God and USCIS officer know the best ). But you can get your passport by hand if you go to NY office or DC office or they will send you express mail if you pay for that. But you have to pay a little extra fees for your passport . Please call your Indian consular section. They will arrange your passport withing 48 hours. It's a normal thing. If anybody need to travel now, what will happen, nobody will sell air ticket without passport #. The Country counsular section is sitting here and getting salary to help their people. And issuing an emergency passport is the vital role for them.

Good luck. But don't go to the interview without a passport if you want to save your time and GC.
