Hi Gurus,

my parents have both their I-130 approved with I-485 pending. They are planning to go back to our homecountry for 2-3 months on approved AP.

Qustions are:

1). If the interview falls in the time while they are away, I will reschedule that. But how far apart will the next interview date be? Can you pick a month, say in 3 months when they come back?

2). Can I as their child call and reschedule for them? Or they have to do it themselves? Is there a form we can file to show that I am authorized to reschedule for them?

3). Do they always interview the parents at the same time? Even though they have their own cases, somehow I got the impression that they always interview the parents together. Is there a way to have a separate schedule for each parent? My mom will come back earlier than my dad.

Thanks for any advice.

Unless your are stupid. Who else dictate when to conduct the business of the US govt? Of all the people, you? I doubt...

They have to reschedule themselves... or you can be accused of interfering with the matters of the govt....:D3). Do they always interview the parents at the same time? Even though they have their own cases, somehow I got the impression that they always interview the parents together. Is there a way to have a separate schedule for each parent? It is at the discretion of the interviewing officer as to how the interview is going to be conducted...

Thanks for any advice.

Enjoy USCIS..

if your parents take becoming permanet residents seriously, they should come back for the interview. What is so important going on in their country that they cannot come back?
On the other note, there are instances where they don't even conduct interviews for parents - just approve the case and send you the notice.

Is being out of the US for a few months really more important than their interview? If it is then they really honestly shouldn't be trying to become PRs.

If they take things seriously they should be here for the interview, it's not like the notice wont come early enough that they can get here before its time for the interview.

And btw, I doubt that the gov't will just let you schedule when your parents are interviewed. There are PLENTY of us who are taking it seriously and will do whatever it takes to get to their interview when it was scheduled for us. Rescheduling to me, personally, just means it isn't taken very seriously on their part. It's different if there is a serious reason they cannot make it but just because they went back to their original country doesn't seem to fly as a legitimate reason.

Just my 2 cents.

Going back for 2-3 months is for their personal reason, which doesn't mean they don't take the interview serioiusly. If there is a choice, they won't go.

Anyone with experince please share your thoughts. Thanks.
