Appt was for 11:30 am. My wife and I got there early - 10:45. No traffic I guess! Anyways we had an enormous mound of evidence which my wife thought I was NUTS to accumulate ("they're not going to want copies of all that stuff!").
My wife's TINY bracelet caused a ruckus with the metal detector and she got wanded up and down while they scratched their heads...
Anyways we got called a few minutes early. The officer was a black lady about 40 yrs old who was very friendly yet professional. Swore us in. Pulls out my file making a huge UGH sound while doing it. Apparently my file is of record thickness - I don't remember sending them THAT much stuff. There must have been 300 sheets of paper in my file! What the heck was all that stuff????
Anyways went through the forms verifying names addresses etc. Said TN was unusual they don't get many. Why did we wait 4 years to adjust? Explained - wife didn't live in US most of her life, couldn't do 864.
Went down the list "communist? drug runner?" etc. Asked if I had ever committed a crime. Repeated it several times - "You never beat anyone up really bad??" she asks. I am beginning to wonder what's in that file. "No. Nothing!"
Then asks if I plan to take a 2nd wife and rolls her eyes over towards my wife, who looks horrified at the question but then laughs hysterically. We all do. But she's waiting for my "no", which she gets.
Then wants to see the pictures, bills, checking account etc. She takes copies (which we brought) of EVERYTHING, adding another 50 pages to the file. My wife is impressed that they actually wanted all that crap.
Then she says she will review the file and mail me my decision! From what I had read here, that usually means you've got problems. I asked if my name check was all good, she said yes. 35 min total interview. The officer was nice and didn't get all intimidating on us like I hear about some.
So I had to leave wondering.
About 2 hours ago (11 hours after the interview) I got the emails - Welcome notice sent. Card coming soon, blah blah blah.
Although I will post one final "thanks" when I get the card in the mail, I want to thank everyone who helped me along through this, either by directly answering my questions or inadvertently from their posts. 3 years from now, I can go get my citizenship and finally slam the lid shut on this whole thing.
Woo hoo!

Congratulations....

No they did not seperate us. I doubted they would. Our marriage is nearly 8 years old, and we were married living together in Canada for 3 years before coming to the US. I think unless they turned up something rotten in my background check, there was no reason to deny me my Green Card. I think I was a fairly easy case.

I saw that about your 2nd interview in June 2008. I have never seen ANYONE have an appointment scheduled that far out. Hopefully you figure out what's going on - you have something screwy going on there for sure.
