Hi guys,:)

First of all i would like to thank all of you for all the support and help offered through this wonderful forum. I have been a silent reader of this forum, and have gained enormous amount of information from here.

I had my interview yesterday 16th October at chicago DO. My interview was at 10:00AM but then as i am planning to visit india later next month, i needed Indian Visa for USC wife and 2 kids. So I started from home at around 7AM (I live in far west suburb and downtown chicago is about 45 miles from my place). Reached the indian consulate at aroung (8:40AM). Made my wife sit in the car and went in the building. There were 3 people waiting ahead of me to go upstairs as the office opens at 9AM. It was pretty quick, submitted the papers at the counter by 9:20AM and i was asked to come back on wednesday to collect the passports.

Drove straight to the USCIS office which was about 3 miles from there and parked the car in the parking adjuscent to the USCIS building. $6 for an hour, $10 for couple of hours and $12 for the day. (Pretty cheap parking considering chicago downtown.) We into the building, through the security check area, took the elevator to the second floor. I gave my interview notice to the lady at the reception, she asked if i am accompanied by an attorney to which i said "No". Then took the letter and asked us to take a seat. Then thinking we have still have some time, i went to the restroom. When i came back my wife said the officer was calling my name and my wife told him that i was in the restroom. The officer said he will come gain in 5 mins. The officer again came back called my name again and then we followed him to his office.

He made us swear in and then asked us to take a seat. He had our file in front of him and he started looking at the file and i have almost all the information and the file looks complete to me. Then he looked at my employer letter and could'nt pronounce the name of the company i work for. I pronounced it for him and he asked do you still work for the same company.I said Yes. Then He said the class of admission is H1B. Then said you got married on such n such a date and we said yes. Then he asked is it more than 2 years of marriage to which we said yes. Then he did something on his computer and then said the only thing i need is copy of the birth certificate of your children and i gave him that. Then he asked all the "NO" questions and to which i answered appropriately.

And then he said you will get the Alien Card in about few weeks and congratulated us. We thanked him and asked him if he could stamp my passport and he said he does not have the stamp with him and he printed out a letter stating the AOS was approved and asked us to get an infopass appointment and get the passport stamped.

The IO was a district director, pretty well mannered. He was not friendly but not rude as well. The interview was about 10 minutes and the IO did not ask for any other documents other the birth certificate of my children and the documents i already submitted with the application. I had a stack of documents and photos to give to the IO but he never asked for them and i did not volunteer as well.

All in all it was a good experience and i am expecting to receive my GC very soon. I am planning to go to india in the last week of November and wish i receive the GC before that. Other wise i would then have to take an infopass and get the passport stamped.

The Officer did not even ask for my EAD and the AP. They are still with me. Do you guys think that the AP is still Valid?

Thanks Again Guys.

SM :) :)

Congratulations.
