AOS approved before AC140 interview

Dear Friends,

Not sure, if anyone has read anything on this type of case before.

After waiting for two years on AOS, I requested my Attorney to go for AC140 and my Attorney promptly sent my papers to Mumbai consulate and Mumbai consulate also accepted my case and gave me a case number. I also reached Mumbai little bit in advance for my interview and most probably I am a likely interview candidate for August.

And yesterday my AOS (I-485) got approved. What do I do now ? I have advance parole to go back to USA. Should I go back to USA and get my passport stamped there or Do I need to go for interview in Mumbai Consulate ? If I go for the interview in Mumbai consulate, then probably they will find my I-485 has already been approved and may not conduct an interview.

I will appreciate, if anyone has heard/read about a similar case before.

You are already a permanant resident, so you cannot go for an IV/NIV interview. You need to inform your consulate that you are withdrawing your interview as you have already got your residency and use your AP to get back into the country.

If I were in your shoes, I would use the AP to get back to the country first, make sure everything is okay with AOS approval, and then request for interview cancellation.

I am in the same boat

My I-485 application was approved on July 30th. Lawyer says he plans to withdraw I-824 and the CP docs from the consulate. Is that the right thing to do? Any suggestions on what to do in this case?

Thanks!

come back first to US and then you can withdraw the application. It is safer.
