AOS Approval Letter after Interview

I had my marriage-based AOS interview at the end of November at the Portland Office. The officer told me that they would run all the background checks and send a letter about 1-2 weeks after the interview. It has been about 4 weeks now and I have not received anything yet.

Have any of you guys received approval letters from the INS after AOS interviews that took place in the second half of November? Has there been any recent official communication from the INS on this matter?

I'd really appreciate you sharing any info. Thanks.
 
I had one in Nov. It was in Houston. The INS officer told me that they have to do further checks and that I will get a letter. I got a letter within 3-4 days to come in and get the Passport stamped. I am sure you will hear too, depending on the case loads. I think the hold up might be at the FBI end and not INS end as far as these checks go.

Einstein, congratulations on your approval! You must have had your interview prior to the INS memo about the change in the background check procedures as I cannot find anyone on this board so far who had their approval letter come in recently. I'll wait a couple of more weeks and if I don't hear from them - I'll go to the office and check on the status.

Any update about your case? Did you receive your approval letter? Did you go to the local office? I have a similar situation and waiting for the approval letter for about 5 weeks now. Appreciate if you can give me some update!
 
Hey guys!

Got my approval letter in the mail from the Portland Office yesterday. The letter invited me to go to the INS office and get my passposrt stamped within the next 30 days. Here is the processing timeline:

Mid-May 02 AOS Filed
Beg of June 02 Received Advance Parole
Mid July 02 Went to INS to get Employment Authorization
October 02 Received Interview Invitation
End of Nov 02 Had Interview (AOS not approved at that time, INS needed to run background checks)
Jan 8th 03 Approval Letter Issued (GC to come in the mail within the next 12 months)
