Anything I can do about I485 delay???

Hi, I submitted my I140 and I485 in July 2003 and the I140 was approved in June this year. Since the I485 application has been long overdue, I called customer service and inquired about its status. At the end of June, I received a letter from the director of the service center. He said that the adjudication of my I485 was delayed because all such applications were subject to "routine security check". Moreover, they couldn't tell how long this security check takes and when it'll be over. So practically, it means I can do nothing but waiting until this security check is complete (of course, at a time of their choosing). Is there anything I could do about it? I heard that you can call FBI to ask if your finger print is done (my FP was done last year). What about this "security check"? Can you inquire about that???

This query will get excellent answers in the I-485 forum.
All I can say is that you can email FBI asking for status of your name check status. I am not sure how different are name check and security checks. FBI is now responding to email requests of midfeb-midmarch. So you need to patience.......... Another thing which can be done is to contact senators of your area. that helps sometimes.
BTW which category you are in? EB3, EB2 are now unavaliable ...till oct 1, 2005 you will get response from EB1 related cases only.

NSCEB1: you said... "BTW which category you are in? EB3, EB2 are now unavaliable ...till oct 1, 2005 you will get response from EB1 related cases only."

Are you sure that visa numbers for EB2 are now "unavailable"? I think currently only EB3 are unavailable till Oct 1, 2005, and that EB2 "may" run into shortages towards Jan 2006.

I cannot say 100% but my colleauge who is EB2 filer when called via senator got this answer for unavaliability. In the I-485 and current forum we get to hear contrasting views about it. Apparently, predictions (based on several bulletins) is that it will eb unavaliable from sep onwards for thsi year!
again! ...I must say i am not 100% sure....because anything happens at immigration office!!

Thanks for the info!

My lawyer filed both EB1-EA and EB2-NIW for me and both have been approved. However, he only filed one I 485, and told the USCIS in the application that the I 485 was based on both I 140's. I've heard conflicting views. Some say you need to file two I 485 for two different I 140's. Others say that you only need to file one I 485.

I beleive it is well known fact that you can file multiple I-140.
However, adjustment of status application (I-485 ) is only one.
I am surprised yoru lawyer files I-485 based on two I-140 petitions.
I beleive he must have attached explanantion for part 2 of I-485 form.
I might be silly in asking ....could this be the reason for confusion an delay?
