I applied for AP to VSC sometime back.
RD is 10/17/2002.

It says 30-60 days.. anyone knows how long it is taking now?
I am from VA, EB3.

I have asked this question couple of times...
hope I will get some answer this time...

i am assuming that you mailed it to VSC. from the general posts it seems like VSC is taking a bit more time in AP as opposed to EAD. It it 11/16 so it has been 4 weeks for you. Wait for a few more days, i would say.

i want to travel on 11/27

I have confirmed tickets for 11/27 to India
and I cannot postpone it for personal reasons.

I got an RFE on I485-RD-10/26/01 and Ins received response
on 11/04/02. I heard that it is taking couple of weeks
for the receipt to arrive in mail for that once it is approved.
so I dont want that to get approved before i go to arlington
for ap, if I have to go... if arlington is taking 6-7 days to
send ap in mail, I should go there monday???

it has been one month for you since the AP RD. you should call IIO and ask what is the status on your application.

if it is not approved, you should go to the arlington office immediately. today is monday already and if you have not gone today, you should go there tomorrow. remember on a weekday morning you will have to be there early to make sure you get a number. i have heard that they stop taking people in the building after a certain time like 8:30 or 9. but if you are there by 6:30 or so, you can get out early.

you can try talking to the representative and take copies of your AP notice and your tickets and preferrably any associated documents that could add to the urgency reason. from what we know normally arlington does not do same day or next day AP. but in your case they might make an exception because you have confirmed tickets and because your AP application is pending.

please do remember to update with your results as it will be very helpful to others.

called lawyer , IIO

Called Lawyer.
Lawyer is on vacation today. Left a message for him.

Called IIO.
She said AP application for me and wife is with some officer and may get approved today. She also said, it is taking 7 to 10 days to send it in mail once it is approved. She asked me to check for status again some time late this week.

So I will see if it gets approved today otherwise I might goto arlington tomorrow.

kvdijas, if it gets approved today even then you do not have 7-10 days for them to mail it out and then 2-3 days for you to get the mail.

you can call IIO and give them your FedEx account number or credit card number. if the officer is in good mood, you may receive it this week. if they say it will take them 7 days to even send the FedEx out, then you should definitely go to arlington tomorrow.

have you been to arlongton office before?

I never went to arlington office before.
I asked IIO about fedex. She said "you could,.... I would suggest you wait few more days...." so may be she thinks I will get it in mail before wednesday next week....
i will anyway goto Arlington and see what they say... I am not doing anything in office anyway... :-)

it depends on how important it is for you to leave on 11/27. you may very well get it in mail by saturday or early next week. for me it has generally taken 3-5 days from AD to the mail. they have to say 7-10 days just because. however, if you have an urgent reason, you should go to the arlington office tomorrow. and even then it is cutting close.

basically for the arlington office, make sure you have the right address. the first time went there i the address from a website and it took me some time to find it only to discover that it was the wrong address. then i called them and i reached their recording which mentioned an address. it took me some time to find that address only to find out that it was another INS office that was closed that day. then i finally asked and searched and reached the right building. what a waste of time.

and the right building is very very easy to find. i believe the correct address is 4420 N. Fairfax Dr. If you take 66 take exit 71 and continue on fairfax drive and it is right there on your right.

also there is a photo shop in the deli which is in that same building. be prepared to park on the street. the parking meters only allow 2 hours.

first you will stand in line to get the number. if you need to add more quarters, you will have to make a dash. but i had enough time to add the quarters, get some coffee, get the photo taken and then come back before my turn.

also remember you will have to finish your coffee before you enter the building. the first time i had to throw a nice hot cup of java in trash on a darn rainy morning. :(

also remember no cell phones in there.

i wish i knew all this before i went there. :)

they accept personal check - but only if you have your driver license with you.

i think they accept credit card as well, but i have not tried.

ins does not accept cash. the photo shop in the deli accepts cash.

hope this helps.

good luck to you for your trip to arlington and for your normal AP approval. i hope you are able to make your trip on 11/27.

please do post your experience here.
