Hope you can help... My friend opened a case (EB-3 skilled worker) in April 2001. The lawyer provided a company that allegedly was supposed to sponsor my friend. My friend did not know the company - everything was set up by the lawyer.
If the documents had been filled out before 04-30-2001, my friend would be a beneficiary of 245(i). But... in 2004 the lawyer was suspended. He gave us no copies of the case whatsoever; he provided only a number 2001XXXXXX. He told us the case was closed in 2002. The case was pending in NYC.
Is there any way we can check whether the case was filled out before April 2001? Can we check if the case was under his name? We called Philadephia Backlog Center - they have no record with this kind of numbers, they said that all cases start with "P" then "0" and 9 digits.
