Anyone know this document for H-1b extension? (I-140 approved, I-485 pending)

It is time to renew my H-1b visa. The international office people in my university told me that I can renew for only 1 year because I started my H-1b in 2001 and it will be 6 years at the beginning of 2007. I remember I read somewhere that if I-140 is approved and I-485 is pending, one can renew H-1b for up to 3 years. Can anyone give me a link for the offical document or memo so that I can show it to the staff in international office? Thanks for your help.

This only applies if you are in a retrogressed category. If your PD is current you only qualify for a 1 year extension

I AM ALSO ON H1B SINCE 2001 AND WILL EXPIRE IN 2007.
PLEASE LET US KNOW IF WE CAN EXTEND FOR 3 YEARS?

BELOW IS MY SITUATION...I MADE AN INQUIRY ON 1/24/06(OUT OF PROCESSING TIME) , CALLED BACK TODAY(2/14/06), BEEN TOLD TO CALL ON 2/24/06 IF I DON'T RECEIVE ANYTHING IN MAIL ABOUT OUR PENDING 1-485.
MY QUESTION IS IF NO ANSWER COMES BACK FROM THE INQUIRY FOR TSC WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP? PLEASE ADVISE...
