In 2000 I had no problem getting a visa with rtd. Or you may look at a country that doesnt require visa, such as Maldives.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply,
My wife and I are from Iran. I am here, but she is still there. as far as you know, they will give visa to Young people specially if she is from Middle-east and also her husband resides in the USA.
Because of the Bird Flu which is very popular in Turkey, they dont let here go there anymore, and she applied for Sweden Visa, and got rejected.
So she said she is able to get visa for Thailand, its fine to me, I got a lot of info. of their website in Los Angeles,
I have to call them tomorrow and ask them question. But as far as the website has explained, it should be easy.

But part of my comment was about creating a Sticky Thread about diffrent Consulars experience, and have it for ever for everyone. I think it is very usefull.
Again thanks for your reply, I will let you guys know about the process.

Regards,

Nas

P.S. do you know more countries which dont require a visa for RTD holders?
(Germany, Madldive, ...more?) this thing should be up on sticky as well. Thank you

easy

it is very easy to get tahi visa .all they need is valid rtd for six months, bank letter stating that you have money to go thai ,hotel reservations and air ticket confirmation .thai is very pleasant country to go and it's very cheap
enjoy thai

Nas, I feel for you my friend. Can you tell us your history as to why your wife is in Turkey. Is she a refugee there? My best friend's wife is from Iran and both of them were able to migrate to canada through refugee re-settlement program.

In the meantime, I suggest Cyprus which is close to turkey and half of it is under turkey's rule. She can travel there and if you go to cyprus through the greece route, you can also enter the border with a valid visa.

OK since Want asked me to, I wont say no! :D
I am a refugee form Iran, I cam throu HIAS (resettelment Agency) for Jews which takes car of other religion as well. If you have suppot in US which in my case was my aunt, It is the best way. So basically I am minority religion in my Country (I really had problems, government to my family and I could not parctice anything overthere {I am not religous} but not even that much + not able to continue my education) and I we got married just right before I apply for my GC, and then I thought probably she can claim the same thing in Turkey, The reason she did not go with HIAS like me because she is Muslim, HIAS does anything for all religions but not Muslims. She was in Turkey for One year, she had alot of problems, even more than she had in Iran, and UNHCR is responsible for refugees in Turkey. we never got any answer back, and if we would, it would take year and a half more, to get visa, and probably more to get here.
We decided, that she can go back home and stay there, atleast with my parents and her parents, till I finish the paperwork, and here I am,.
She is not in Turkey anymore, and reallly we dont want to go over there anymore + Bird's flu is all over the place in Turkey (Some people have died) so it is a good reaon to not going there.
I have not figured it out, how can I bring her here. But at the same time, not disappointed. Still optimist to life and future.
So we will see what will happen to our life.
Good luck to all of you guys,
and I hope this year will be the on of the best years in your life.

Regards,

Nas

You have a refugee status, which is your ticket to ride. File an AOR for your wife and she will be with you in no time at all. Ask HIAS for assistance and good luck! :)

I like the way you talk, because its like drinking water, but i wish it was as easy as you say.

For the Info. AOR(Affidavit Of Relationship), I filed that thing as soon as became available to me (Iran) Nov. 2004 and then at that time she was in Turkey and after a while they said that there is nothing they can do for people in Turkey, reason UNHCR is over there to take care of these issues.
So that case left undone forever. Basically the said sorry (REFUGEE) it is unavailable to you. Mostly is available to African countries but the waiting list is like 5 years. 2004-2005 was the first year became available to Iranian.

I appreciate you concern,

Regards,

Forgot to mention that,
As i said in my post, HIAS dont do anything for MUSLIMS. other wise I would sent her to Austira as well, and please dont comment on changing religion issue.
Thanks

HIAS is not the only VOLAG around. You can send me a private message just to give an idea where you are and I will, possibly, be able to tell you where you can seek help.
