Anyone has been asked for state police clearance?

Just found out at TC&S canadian immgration website:

"If you have stayed in any state in the US for more than 6 months, you need police clearance* (if over the age of 18) from the state(s) and the FBI. (Police clearance as well as FBI clearance are valid for 6 months) The link below, will take you to US State Police information.

*Note: There is a chance you will not be asked for (state) police clearance, however, if you include both FBI and police clearance, you will avoid any unnecessary delays. "

Anyone has been asked by Buffalo office for the police clearance from state?

Not when i applied but when i got interview call,they asked for state letter

Did they asked for every states you had been living more than 6 mos?

Or just the current state you were residing. Thank you.
