anyone got name change and still took oath on same date as interview?

I read several other threads and now I'm officially confused.

If an applicant requests a name change on the N-400,
will he/she get to take the oath on the same day
as the interview? (assuming it's just changing the
first name)

Alternatively, if I had filled out the name change request
on the N-400, can I tell the officer during interview that
I decide NOT to change my name afterall?

Not all DOs do same day oaths, so, if you are at a DO like Dallas that bunches up everyone in to formal, occasional oath ceremonies, there's no chance of getting a same day oath anyway.

There are two categories of "oath ceremonies", "administrative ceremonies" (administered by someone in the USCIS to whom the power to confer citizenship has been confirmed) and "judicial ceremonies" (where the oath is administered by a judge in a "court").

Name change requires a "judicial ceremony" - i.e. it must be done by a judge. I expect that the likelihood of getting a same day judicial ceremony is pretty much 0%.

No idea about your other question.
