we are getting ready to file for our citizenship..and need to change our last names..
There is a whole section in the paperwork to do any name changes before we file to the INS....

Is it a pain ?

You can change your name as a part of your naturalization process. You will end up with a formal court document describing your name change, there is no "pain" associated with it.
