Anyone applied for Schegen Visa? I plan to go to Spain this May and don't really want to go to germany and then spain since tickets are like 800 bucks itself....HOw long does it take? What is this stupid travel insurance?

Let me know if anyone has applied for any schegen visa from any consulate...

Also does embassy of France accept Refugee Travel Documents?

Hi Want... I applied for it three years ago in German consulate in Tel Aviv, Israel.... Even I had a letter from German consulate in SFO that people with Blue colored-refugee travel document issued by INS does not need visa to go to Germany.... but I still applied for it alongwith that letter... and they issued me a visa when i insisted... anyhow.. I mean to say that why dont you get a travel iternary showing that you are going to Germany and apply for your visa in their consulate because your visa will be valid for all those countries.....

Insurance will be less than 100 bucks for 1 month or so.....

If Embassy of France accept refugee travel docs ---- one of my friend applied for schengen visa on RTD in french consulate in Thailand... he was told that they can not issue him visa ... and he can apply in french consulate in USA...

Want,

I applied for Schegen visa twice. The first time I applied at the Netherlands Consulate and the other time I applied at the Greece Consulate. Both times I submited with similar docs(air ticket, hotel reservations, bank statements, pay stubs, asylum approval letter, travel insurance, and photos. The visa application took two weeks both times.

I bought the travel insurance from STA Travel. I think the insurance costs about $60. It depends on the number of days. One of my co-worker told me that she used her company health insurance (Oxford) when she applied her visa at the Germany and France Consulate at two separate occasions. I did not want to risk having my visa denied just becuase of the stupid travel insurance so I spent the money ragardless.

While I did not have experience with the Spain Consulate, I did go to Spain with my schegen visa from the Greece Consulate.

I used my company insurance... they simply checked my Insurance card to see the expiration date ... and they wrote it down some where on my visa application... thats it

I got mine the same day from the french on my Reentry Permit and I'm traveling on Feb 15.I submited: -Hotel reservation,Flight reservation, bank statement,Pay stubs,Photo, travel insurance.I hope the rule might be the same with Spain. For Travel insurance, check with any american express office in DC.Mine(From american Express New York) cost $38 for 7 days($50,000 coverage). The french don't accept RTD if you don't have a GC.Since you have your GC,they will accept your RTD.
good luck. For more info about your Travel insurance, log on www.americanexpress.com and select whaterver you want,

i got twice from the italian consulate in san francisco.the most easiest to get shengan visa.follow the instructions at thier web site and donnt miss anything.

Hi wantmygcnow,
my husband has came back from France month ago.
He applied for Shangen visa in the consulate of France in NYC and recieved it in a 2 weeks. Travel insurance is mandatory; you can get just an emergency one. And "yes" for the France accepting RTD.
Have a nice trip :)
