I recieved the following email from a LA times reporter:

"My name is Evelyn and I am a reporter for the Los Angeles
Times. I am writing an article on the debate over expansion of the H1b
program, triggered by President Bush's call yesterday for such an expansion.
I am looking for people who might have been impacted by the shortage of
H1bs and Lynn Shotwell suggested I try and get in touch with your
organization. Unfortunately, I am under deadline and will have to write something by Monday."

Anyone affected by H1B shortage and would like to share their story??

Like President said USA is the one who is affected by shortage of H1

Then those companies who need foreign workers to fill their vacancies.

Least affected are those sitting in foreign countries who want to realise their American Dream

Let her know that Pres. Bush is trying to expand the H1b program to get in more people like us, but that those already here cannot become permanent residents and have been waiting over 5 yrs in many cases, even if she includes a few lines in her item about this it will help our cause.

Well I for one am a physician actually in high shortage field. Have to transfer my job from training program that is cap exempt to nonteaching job that is subject to cap. I face a 3 month gap in my visa which means I might have to leave the coubtry for 3 months and try to apply for a visa. It seems kind of counterproductive for the whole system. My employer has to wait an extra 3 mths, I will be without pay for 3 months spending my cash in Mexico or Canada. I am also from a country that is on the list of 7, so if I step out for a visa I am subject to a lengthy security clearance process. I am not sure, but it doesn't make sense that my crossing the border makes it look that my intentions are bad, esp if the immigration system is making me do that. This system doesn't make sense to me anyways. By the way I have been in this country for more than 7 yrs and no violation of any laws whatsoever. Half my family are USC but the wait for GC through any path seems unbearable.

No shortage of H1-B's in USA

I guess, there is no shortage of H1's.Because of this outsourcing and 20,000 new H1's for MS people in USA.For each requirement there are so many people in USA.Where is the shortage?.No good billing ,no good salaries and no Green cards here.People are suffering with retrogession for long periods with out getting Gc's and freedom. This increase will make H1 people more suffer who already in USA.
Post a requirement in Dice. You will get 100's of resume's.Where is the shortage?
Correct me If i am wrong.

Thaank you so much for sharing your story. I have forwarded your message to the LA times reporter. Hopefully exposing more and more of the ridiculous US immigration system will force the congressmen to act.

The LA reporter would like to speak to you. She has to submit her article tomorrow. Can she speak to you. Please email me asap @ vjd27@yahoo.com

The shortage of H1B affects businesses not indivisual seeking H1B and living out of the USA.

The simple logic is 65K quota is much less than actual require as first time 65K quota was full before start of fiscal year (USCIS start accepting application three month prior to fiscal year). The additional 20K quota for the alien having master and higher degree from the US Universities also full on 1/17/06.

This indicates the shortage of H1B visas.

The increase in H1B is not going to serve the purpose unless the corrosponding increase in Employment based greeen card quota.
