Transit Visa at Paris ?

Do we need transit visa while connecting to India at Paris (if H1 stamp on passport has been expired for more than 6 months) ?

If you do not have a valid H1B VISA in your passport then you need the Transit VISA. If your stay at the airport is less then 6 hours then you need Airport Transit VISA which is easy to get. But if your stay at the airport is more then 6 hours then you will have to get Transit VISA and for that you will need to provide more documents. You can read about that on the france consulate website.

Also when you go get the visa. Make sure you have the actual tickets or ticket receipt .Cause I had the itinerary but still the guy at the counter did not accept that and I had to go again next day with the ticket receipts and got my airport transit visa. My stay is less than 6 hours at PARIS and i will be using the AP to come back to USA.

What happens if the connecting flight gets delayed and the 6 hours limit exceed ?

Well, In that case you can talk to the Airline people to help u with the transit visa as your flight is delayed and I am assuming next flight to india will be next day.
It happened to me in frankfurt (Germany). I missed my connecting flight to delhi and then lufthansa personal helped me and other people getting transit visa so that we can go out of airport and stay at the hotel.
Hopefully Air france will do that too.

It is airlines resonsibility

Once you boarded on the plane.. it is airlines responsibility to care of such matters... you cannot do any thing if your connecting flight missed or canceled .....

In london no one even care to check the Transit Visa....

Hi Guys, This is good information. Just one quick question, my H1 B has expired and i will be using AP. In India, at the checkin counter did they question you regarding your re-entry visa into US. (using AP and not having H1B ) or was it a smooth process ?

Simple

I return from India last week with AP. They know AP better than us. Dont worry.
No questions asked. When he asks where is your visa just present your AP.
