Sorry for being the smart-a$$, but just how would anyone know they were in namecheck this soon after submitting their application? Normally you only find out you are stuck when you don't get an interview letter within a month or two of FP.

Depending on the DO, it can be a month or six - can't it. They aren't all processing apps that quickly now are they?

Don't even bother thinking about namecheck until several months have passed - you are liable to jinx your application. Remember, most applicants fly through namecheck - you hear a lot about those folks who get stuck in the process, but most folks don't get stuck (and they don't say "hey I didn't get stuck").

Sit back, relax, check your (postal) mail each day and enjoy the process.

Since BCS working

Name Check sticking may be posted separately since BCS working (Jan 3, 2007).
Hopefully, the BCS is working properly without any problems.
But if something come up after that day, we may post and share any of solution experiences.

Could you please explain with more details on how "Name Check sticking may be posted separately since BCS working"? Where will it be posted separately? Does this mean that the IV date will not be affected by name check? Thanks.

New Background Check Service (BCS) from January 3rd

Give the guy a break! He obviously is struggling with his English. But this is my take on what he is trying to get accross:

..."The USCIS, which conducts background checks on petitioners and applicants seeking immigration related benefits, is proposing to add a new system of records entitled Background Check Service. Aiming to facilitate the background check process and to improve efficiency, USCIS has developed the Background Check Service (BCS) as a centralized repository that contains the consolidated data on all background check requests and results. The BCS, which the service proposes to begin using on January 3, 2007, would allow authorized USCIS officers to request background checks and access the data stored in the BCS during the adjudication process in order to facilitate informed decision-making.

Publishing the details of the BCS in the Federal Register yesterday, the USCIS states that it conducts three different background checks on applicants/petitioners applying for USCIS benefits: (1) A Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Fingerprint Check, (2) a FBI Name Check, and (3) a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Treasury Enforcement Communication System/ Interagency Border Inspection System (TECS/IBIS) Name Check."

Since new procedure of name checking system was working, we may be faced new issue or problems that may be posted to help new applicants of N400.

Under this forum of N400, the previous name check procedure was complicated (USCIS just waits answers from several agencies until they satisfied. If one of element is missing, they will let you know just “NAME CHECK PENDING”. Nobody let you know which agent does not answer or which element is missing)

Hopefully, BCS is working properly and efficiently. But new system may come up new issue or problems, so new applicants may be approached new ways.

Regards,
gs
