Guru(s),
Got my (first ever) FP notice sent out on 12/01/2004 for an appointment on 10/18/2004 at the local INS. I haven't received the notice yet. So the lawyer is FedEx(ing) the copy they got, and then I was planning on going to get my finger-prints done. I was excited.
But here is the fun part; got a status report (for me and my spouse) as follows:
"On December 16 (for my spouse, and mine is 14th), 2004, the document we made based on the approval or registration of this case was mailed directly to the person to whom issued."
And everyone who deals with the INS, swears that that is the actual Green Card document mailing status report.
I called up the "National Customer Service Center (800) 375-5283", and asked the lady what the status means, and she says, that is the Green Card that is being mailed. And I told her that neither of us are finger-printed so how can we get approved, and yes, where is the 485 approval letter? She replies that "may be the officer didn't want to waste time and resources in sending me the approval, and just send me the card!" and for the no FP on file she replies, "May be you are just being lucky!"
Is that true? Or it is a status blunder?
What all you experts say?
Unfortunately I just moved. I have filed for address change, but don't know if they are sending these documents to the right address. Also our lawyer made a mistake and updated the INS with the old address again.
On this issue, the INS lady said that I will have to wait for a month before I can call up and deal with this problem.
So tell me, is my wait finally over? Or is it just a mirage? 2 years back I was praying for this miracle to happen. So, has it happened? I don't mind a 2 year delayed wish granting scheme!!
Your comments are greatly appreciated.
