Anybody got CA Driver's license recently?

Hi,

I recently moved to California with IL driver's license. I was wondering if switching to CA driver's license requires to show I485 and EAD. If so, do I get the license valid for 1 year or 5 years? Thanks!
 
I do not have GC but I got 5 years CA license last week.

Got CA license for 5 years

Hi,

I am on H1-B and have applied I-140/485.

I renewed my CA license last week through Internet. They extended it for another 5 years.

I dont know what is the experience when you are changing states.

how long did it take ?

Im in San Diego, its been 4 months since i applied, no DL yet :( how long did it take u ???

Very fast, in fact

I am in the Bay Area.

I had mailed them the renewal form and $24 on Feb 24th or so.
But it turned out that the fees I sent was inadequate.
DMV sent me the Internet renewal form(expedited form) sometime around Feb 26th.
I waited till they returned my previous check to me.
Then I went online and paid the fees by credit card and completed the online renewal formalities.
Surprisingly, the new license was in the mail the next day.

I still dont understand how it happened. But that's the truth.

Hi all,
My wife and I applied for I140/485 with the California Service Center. We have
our receipts for these. My wife is working on an H1B visa, but she lost her original
H1B approval notice (that has her I94). She has a copy of it though. So folks here in the DMV (here in Southern California)
are not allowing her to take the written test. Is there any way she will be allowed to take
the test with her I485 original receipt notice? Please advise...
This is turning out to be a pain because the duplicate H1 takes about 4 months to receive from
the Nebraska Service Center where it was originally processed.
