Hi,

Read my story please and give your input.

I'm under Calcutta consulate jurisdiction, so Mumbai was supposed to process my GC. They received my file in Nov. from NVC and I've been waiting for the interview call. Today I called them and found that, they transferred my file to Chennai as I've been living in Andhra Pradesh. I'm going to call Chennai tomorrow, anyone knows the best time to call them? And how long they're going to take to schedule my interview? Probably Mumbai sent it in Dec'02, I forgot to ask them.

Ranen: Any input, please!

Thanks in advance.
Luit.

If ur permanent address was under Calcutta jusrisdiction

then for immigration visa purposes u would have come under Bombay .... it has happened before to people who had their cases transferred to other consulates depending on their work residency in India ...its nothing to be worried about ...

the only thing is that ur case is delayed by a month ...u should get ur interview date in Feb ...

luit20001,
Frankly speaking, I am hearing this for the first time, where a candidate from Calcutta is sent to Mumbai for CP interview. I know one of my ex-colleagues, who is from Orissa, went to Delhi for the CP interview as he worked in a Delhi based company for some 3 yrs prior to come to USA. Generally people from Orissa should be interviewed by Mumbai consulate. Anyway, I don't think there's anything to be worried of. Stay cool !!!
As far as time for interview goes, Madras and Delhi is lagging Mumbai by a month. But, for my case(Mumbai), u know, it's taking 90+ days . I mentioned (in some other thread) of my another friend from Calcutta who got interview at Mumbai after 90+ days of NVC approval. I beleive, the 60 - 75 days interval between interview date and NVC approval is valid for the people who got H1-B stamped from Mumbai Consulate. For the rest it's 90+ days. So, I would love to beleive that u are not going to lose anything(i.e. ur interview should be 90+ days after NVC approval).
In the mean time, please follow chennai threads and past experiences - they need a few more documents than those needed in Mumbai consulate.
GOOD LUCK !!!
cheers!!

Thanks guys..

I really appreciate your advice. Till now, I was studying Mumbai stuffs only, but need to update in chennai now, what a pain!

You know what? We actually opted for Chennai when applied for I140, because I knew I would be working in AP, and entered our current address (AP) in DS230-I, But NVC smartly sent the case to Mumbai and I've been suffering.

Anyway, thanks again.
