I am going on Thursday and the last time I was there they did not let me enter the country since my passport had only like 80 days left instead of 120 they require...I had a swiss visa so I didn't care, this time I have family function so hopeing they dont give me trouble. My RTD expires 08/2007.

No problem with RTD.They asked me only one question:I've you been here before? I said yes. Then my RTD was stamped with no problem. On my way back to US,No question at JFK airport.Officer scanned my GC and stamped my RTD(admitted,NYC).That's it.Again,no question at JFK when coming back.I enoyed my trip.

It depends on the airline--they might freak out when they see you don't have a valid visa for the deperture date, but just explain to them that when you actually arrive in Germany, the date will change and your visa validity will begin. (on the other hand, they may not look at all, and besides, with a RTD you are allowed in without the visa. Just to be safe, print out some paperwork that says entry to Germany allowed without a visa for RTD holders)

Other than that, I am very happy for you that you will meet your wife.

Floyd,
I really appreciate your nice words. I dont have RTD anymore. I have got RP which I think will last till I get my citizenship. Thinking to our seperation is a daily issue specially when you can not do somethin for it. It really sucks.
we all have our own issue and problems and this is mine.

You are right, they may not even look at my Visa validity or they will but I can explain it to them..

Thank a lot again for your comments.

Nas,

Do not worry about that. My Swiss Visa was valid from May 27th but I had to enter on May 25th because stupid Germany would not allow me sinc emy RTD was valid only 80 days.

The officer didn't say much. In your case, you are leaving on the 14th and landing there on the 15th. In reality you are leaving on the 15th Europe time and the visa is for Europe.

Enjoy your trip & I feel bad that these stupid immigration law is separating you and your wife. Hope your situation resolves soon cuz only you know what you are going through.

Thank a lot WANT, I will stop thinking about it since I have other stuff to do at least your guys comments will take my stress down. That's for sure.

I called my relative in Austria yesterday and I told her, "hey, should I but tickets for my travel around europe in the US?" and she goes" no I can find you good deals here like package to go italy (train + hotel) for cheap prices"
What you guys think?
We planned to go to Italy for 3 or four days and then we will go back to Vienna and then to Berlin from there and then I will come here and she will go back home. What are you guys suggesting me?

Thanks a lot for helping me.

I will go to Germany in 1 month and I got my RTD. I don't have any idea which documents I need to show to the officer in Germany and also when I come back. You have some experiences before traveling to Germany, so I would like you explain me more about, for example, my I-94 with my asylum granted and also if I need another document else... I am afraid, and I will come back in Chicago airport because my flight is from Franfurt to Chicago... Thanks a lot

Nothing special.Show them your Green Document(RTD) and German officer will stamp it and let you in.On your way back to the US,you're gonna fill out a new I-94 on the airplane to be shown along with your RTD to the officer at Chicago airport. If you have your Green Card, you don't need to fill out I-94.At port of Entry in US,Green card+RTD= US passport.

Have a safe trip.
