Any way to get real info from INS?

Does anybody know of any way to get useful information from INS these days? I mean besides what can be seen using online case status system.

Has anybody been able to talk to somebody smarter than a phone monkey at the 1-800 number?

Please-please share any successful attempts!

If such person exists, he/she must be dead by now, mostly drowned by saliva of inquirers.
