Any Sudanese/Egyptian applicants interviewed in Cairo recently?

Hi,

I'm a DV2003 winner who is currently living in California.

My wife's cousin (Sudanese) won DV2006 and he just found out that his interview date is September 7 in Cairo, Egypt.

I'm not very familiar with the process in Cairo (I did my processing in Abu Dhabi). Could any Sudanese (or Egyptian) answer the following questions:

1 - It used to be that the medical check up could be done in Sudan when they conducted some of the DV interviews there. Are there still US approved doctors that can do the medical check up in Sudan and have their paperwork accepted by the Cairo embassy?

2 - If not, can any Sudanese or Egyptian applicants recommend one of the embassy-approved doctors or clinics (perhaps someone has already called around and compared prices/speed of service). I should be receiving the winner's 2nd package next week and I'll find out about the doctors, but we want to get a head start.

3 - How has the wait time been if everything is in order? My relative has 23 days until the September 30 deadline for DV visas. He's worried that a lengthy background check might lead to him losing his chance, which would suck as he has the added cost of traveling to/from Egypt in addition to ~$1000 he has to pay for visa fees and medical. He's also has one of those names which includes just about every popular Arabic names (including Mohammed, Ahmed, and two other very popular names). I can just imagine the screening software "lighting up" when his name is matched against a watchlist. ;)

Thanks in advance for all responses!
