Guys

I got my and my wifes 485 approved recently and am planning to travel to India soon after i get my passport stamped.

Once I get my passport stamped, are there any restrictions on travel with just the passport stamped without the actual plastic card or is it considered the same ?

my h1-b has expired and i guess they will take the advance paroles during stamping so i want to make sure.

please do let me know.

thanks

Congrats on your approval !!

Watchout for the TRANSIT VISA requirement for travelling through certain countries ... like UK, GERMANY, FRANCE etc.

Even though you have the stamp, they don't honour it as a plastic card.

I had to get a Transit Visa from a UK embassy to travel through UK to India after my passport was stamped. Even though Air India doesn't let its passengers step down the plane in London.

You have to have transit visa if you r travelling thru UK,Frankfurt. But three days back my friend wife went thru Frankfurt and they also got stamped but they do not have plastic card. She did not took any Transit visa. she was fine. But I would say take a Transit visa. I'm also travelling in May and I called German embassy. they said that we should have transit visa. They told that we can take transit visa even at Frantfurt airport.

So call the respective country Embassey and get details before you plan

ok thanks guys i was suspecting something like that. i guess once my airline is confirmed i will also have to get a transit visa for that respective country.

iknowitall,

I am exactly in same situation and will be sending passport for transit visa after I get my passport stamped. I checked with British embassy website and they have clearly mentioned I need transit visa. What a pain!

What is your approval data? Have you received your Approval notice? How long it took? I got email on Friday that they approved and sent approval notice but I have not received yet. I hope I get it by end of this week because I already booked my appointment for next Monday.
