Any problems travelling on expired Conditional GC?

Hi there,

I filed I-751 and just got the NOA which says that my green card is extended for a year. I know that this allows me to travel and work. My qurestion is... has anyone had problems presenting this document for domestic flights? My conditional GC expires the end of September and I'll be taking a flight within the U.S in October. Are airport security familiar with this document?

Would it be better for me to get a state ID (I live in PA and don't have a drivers licence)? If so, is it easy to get a state ID with conditional GC and document?

I know this is getting into the nitty gritty but I want to avoid any confusion when travelling.

Thanks!!

You do not have a valid Driver's License? what in the world are you waiting for?

As far as ID goes, you need to get a DL.

As far as entering the USA and go through immigration, you should be fine with the expired GC and the NOA. But for going through "security and checking in" you will need a VALID (not expired) form of picture ID.

As far as i know, all you need to get a state ID is a SSN, passport (or other form of ID - but passport sounds like the only one you have) and proof of residence (like a recent utility bill with your name and address on it). It probably will cost between 5 and 10 dollars, and half a morning wasted at the DMV.

PS when they ask you if you want to register to vote, be sure to say "no" ;) (When I first got my DL, i showed them my foreign passport and the ditz behind the counter still asked me. saying yes will get you into a lot of potential trouble)

PraetorianXI- I don't have a drivers licence because I don't drive. I have no intention of going through driving lessons and and applying for a drivers licence (not in the next 2 months anyway) just to have a form of ID. That's why I asked about a State ID, not a drivers licence.

Thank you for your advice woodenshoe101.
