Any problems travelling on AP when it is close to expiration?

What if someone's AP is expiring a week after he is coming back into the country?
I have already used it once right after I got it and it was extended by three months.

What I have heard from other ppl is that it is not a problem and infact AP will be extended at the port of entry.
