Any one in US have pending/approved/denied 601(Waiver of Ground of Excludability)?

My father-in-law is sick and my spouse need to travel to India. She has 601 pending. Does any one who has 601 pending, traveled outside US and came back to US? your information might be very helpfull to us. Please let us know if you know anything about 601.
