No one want to talk baout this but I wonder if we don't have very close
relatives, who should we let to take care of our children in case we are
gone. If we don't have a will, will the US government find some
American to take care of our American born children or they will
try to find our relatives in a foreign country first.

Its not an easy questino to answer. It will depend on whether kids are us citizen or not ? I am sure authorities will do full investigation before deciding the course of action. A book can be written about various outcomes and options.. but writing a will will not be a bad idea.. regardless of which country u live in.

Just a will isn't enough, it can take ages for a will to be probated. I think what you need is something called a "living trust" (ask a lawyer, am not exactly sure what it is called), that comes into effect immediately. In that you should clearly state whom you want your children's guardian to be. I believe this has other advantages I am told, such as you can specify who takes financial and other decision if you and your spouse are incapacitated for some reason and are not in a position to take decisions.
