Any medical benefits after arrival with GC?

My parents are waiting for GC approval outside of US. Assuming they can get approved, will they have medical benefits (state or federal) right after arriving?

Where can I find the regulations regarding this? Is it all different in different states?

As per new rules it takes 5 years from date of entry as PR to get medical benefits. If your parents are 65 or older when they complete 5 years they can go on to medicare. In the interim you can get private health insurance for them. Some information/ads are there on immihelp.com
