folks, has anyone had experience in exchanging their IL state or anyother US state's drivers license for a ON (ontario) province drivers license? what is the procedure to go about? how long does it take to get the exchange done? what other documents are needed apart from IL state license? any website for more detials? any information would be appreciated, thanks.

If your license is 18 months old , you can walk in and get it xchanged .

10 min . is all it takes

You need to take your passport with landing paper .

i have been having OH (1997 - 2000) & then IL (2000 - till date) drivers license. the current IL drivers license that i have was issued in dec 2001 when i had a change of mailing address. and there is no mention on the license that i had IL license since 2000. with that in hand how can i exchange my IL license to a ON provincial drivers license without taking any tests? i will be landing from india directly and will not be able to get any driving record from OH or IL state bmv. how to go about this situation? any past experiences? folks, i need your valuble inputs on this.

Hello-

Get a velid drivers licence from Idia it should be couple of yrs old & have your Canadian licence from ON. Don't surrrender your US licence.

again the same issue with my indian drivers license. i had my drivers license reissued on jan of 2002 and previously i did not have a license for lmv (light motor vehicle - in india for car). would my indian drivers license alone help me getting a ON license? let me know your comments, thanks.

Legally , you can carry only 1 license either of US or canada . You can exchange them anytime you want after the 1 st time of course (18 months condition) . If you have both , you can be charged for it

Just so that you know .
