Any body knows about free or trial excel software.?

Were you able to open the spread sheet? If you were able to open it then you already have excel installed on your machine. As far as I know there's no trial edition of Excel. Most of the current PCs come with Excel installed as part of Microsoft Works or Microsoft Office.

I bought the new computer last year but did not get excel with it. I may not be able to run from the spread sheet as it does not have the option of running the macro.
So I may have to use the java macro as i do have the java in my computer.

I have posted a thread needing instructions how to run the macro from my computer in the csc center. I have tried with my knowledge but was not successful. I will try again when i get the instructions.

If you could get the software that your friend used to run the macro , I really appreciate. Also i wish your approval very soon as you are also a 2001 person.

As per the Java program & instructions , you will have to goto CSC forum.
It creates a Tab separated file, which can be easily opened in excel.
So ( if you still don't have access to Excel) after you run the program in java, paste the results and we will include it in the consolidated file.
