Hi Guys,
after seeing soem postings (like jayanagri's), I was wondering if there is a way out to get soem kind of certification from USA (from some org. like FBI ) that there is no fraud reported under my name. That way if there was some fraud activity under the same name as ours,we can prove ourselves innocent using that statement when we go for CP interview and get into any kind of fraud related trouble. I guess, its also good to carry a credit card report to prove innocnet against credit card frauds. If anyone know about the availabilty of such certificates then do psot the info.

Guys,
I took some initiative and found that we can get PCC from USA so that will prove that we don't have any fraud or criminal records in this country. All you need to do is go to any local fingerprinting office/business (check yahoo yellow pages with keyword "fingerprinting") and get your finger prints on FBI Form258 (usually they will give you the form to fill and then will take ur fingerprints on that form itself). My place charges $16 per person for this service, check with your local location (there are multiple places who provide this service) for the fees.
After you fill the form258 and get the fingerprints on it,
a certified check or money order for $18 (per person) should be made payable to "Treasury of the United States".

Send fingerprints along with processing fee to FBI:
Federal Bureau of Investigation
Criminal Justice Information Services Division (CJIS Division)
Attn:SCU, Mod. D-2
1000 Cluster Hollow Road
Clarksburg, West Virginia, U.S.A, 26306

It takes upto 8 weeks to send the fingerprint card which is your PCC.

I think its pretty easy thing to do and this will save us from any trouble in indian consulate like some other people who had to stay back upto 8-9 mths due to all the fraud clearance problems!
Hope this helps to all the folks going for CP.

You are correct that it is a simple matter to get FBI clearance pre-emptively - i.e. by sending your FP to FBI for clearance.

However, don't the instructions that come with Packet 3 from NVC specifically state that you should NOT attempt to obtain a PCC from the FBI covering your stay in the U.S.?

I agree with Zaye. The Instructions clearly states that

DO NOT ATTEMPT to get a PCC from the US.
Also what is the guarantee that they will accept your fingerprint and assume it is yours. I dont think they have any means to verify your fingerprints. That is why they are making sure they collect your finger print and send it to FBI by themselves. On the otherhand some times it could lead to some suspecion or confusion at the consulate.

well,i am yet to receive my packet 3. Its on its way in the mail I guess!
ANyway, your point seems to be correct! It may cause unnecessary suspesion!
However, are you sure about Packet 3 mentioning NOT to take PCC from USA?

I am fairly certain that we were instructed not to attempt to get PCC for U.S. stay. Wait till you get your packet 3 and see what it says.

Good luck.
