Another Lame duck excuse for I-485 processing delay

This will certainly slow down I485 processing because BCIS is not hiring new people for additional work. They are rather reshuffling their manpower.

If every day BCIS find some new reason to delay I-485 processing, then most of the EB based GC waiters might soon be qualified to file their GC under Family based category. Your American born kid will be 21 years before you get your EB based GC, so your kid will sponsor your GC.

Edison,
Very well said. Even for the family based immigration who would have estimated the wait to be 12 to 15 years from the maximum 3 to 5 years back in 90's. You can never predict anything with BCIS. I think BCIS & LOTTO must be sharing there protocols to work.   :D

Here's an idea...

Let's immigrate to San Salvador, then we'll be all set. The TPS lasts till 2005.

What do you mean....

I am not sure what you are implying. How is it going to affect I-485 processing? The notice is automatically extending the EADs of those under the TPS program from Sep 2003 to March 2004. This should ease off the burden on BCIS (and help I-485, if at all).

Please don't litter the forum with unnecessary theories. TPS is not a new program; it was established in 1990 as a humanitarian aid to "aliens in the United States who are temporarily unable to return to their homeland because of ongoing armed conflict, environmental disasters, or other extraordinary and temporary conditions."

Nothing to do with 485

This extension has nothing to do with 485 processing and will not lead to another slowdown.

Apart from other things it basically is an automatic extension of EAD from Sept 03 to March 04 for those covered under this program.

RajeshJ/GCSeekerInd,
Please read the below mentioned announcement from VSC on January 21, 2003. In the past VSC mentioned TPS registration as reason for delay in other cases, so you expect the same explanation today.
Before putting your comments know the facts. RajeshJ now I need not explain who has to adhere to your advice "Please don't litter the forum with unnecessary theories".

Delays

VSC has reported it was necessary to reassign some employees in order to meet deadlines related to Temporary Protected Status (TPS). The reassignments have pulled staff members from almost all types of case processing to work on TPS cases. This has caused further delays in processing. The Service Center report predicted TPS processing would be completed at the end of January 2003. Hopefully, the processing times soon will begin to improve in the other areas. The California Service Center anticipates similar delays due to TPS processing. See our article, CSC: Case Delays Due to Processing Priorities, also published in this week's MurthyBulletin.

VSC has been slowed at 485 cases for over a month now. I think they will shift back to 485 and quickly process cases then go back to TPS. They do these in turns to keep both side happy. or maybe both side unhappy.
